« TOMMIES" ENTERTAINED AT CADOXTON. Happiness and contentment werj clearly depicted in the countenanced of the large number of non-commissioned officers and men of the Shropshire Light Infantry, stationed at Cadoxton, who were present at a concert given at Bethel Presbyterian Schoolroom, Cadoxton, on Wednesday evening last. This was the fourth of a series of entertainments, the arrangements being car- ried out by the committee of members of the different religions bodies in the Cadoxton district, together with the Cadoxtun Brotherhood. Coun- cillor J. Falix Williams presided, and an excep- tionally fine programme was taken part in by Mrs Wakefcrd, iiisii Muriel James, Miss Margery Lloyd Jones, Mr David Evans, Misa Blanche John, Private W. Francis, Miss May Jones, and Bugler Erason. A novel competition, open to iioldiers only. was for the most original story. A concert is held weekly at the same place, and the Schoolroom is open every evening for soldiers for reading, writing, and recreation purposes.

DEATH OF MR. W. E. JAMES, LATE OF BRYN HILL. We regret to announce the death of Mr William Evan James, of 167a, Severn-road, Cardiff, which occurred on Friday last. Deceased was the son of the late Mr Thomas James, Bryn Hill Farm, Barry, and belonged to an old and much respected family in the district. The funeral took place on Wednesday last.

CONCERT TO THE BARRY I SOLDIERS. I Holton-road English Baptist School- room, Barry Docks, was crowded with soldiers on Tuesday evening last. They were entertained to an excellent pro- g-ramme of music and other items, and, it need hardly be said, they fully en- joyed themselves. Lieutenant GLaze- brook, of the 12th Welsh Regiment, presided, and those who kindly took part- were Miss Beatrice Longford. Miss Maud Marley, Miss Sally files, Ir. R. J. Hammings (who provided the con- cert), and Mr. E. Laighton. Miss Ella Fishwick was the accompanist. Re- freshments were provided by the ladies.
